RT 70 & RT 73 Construction Updates

First Stage Of Overpass Nearly Done

MARLTON NJ – Construction continues at the intersection of Route 70 and Route 73 as the first stage of the state Department of Transportation’s Marlton Circle elimination project nears its December end date.

The NJDOT is currently working to complete stage 1D, the final portion of the first stage of the $31 million project to eliminate the Circle and allow Route 73 to carry traffic above Route 70 via an overpass, according to Timothy Greeley, a spokesperson for the NJDOT.

Stage 1D involves the preparation to shift Route 73 traffic to the west, which will allow for the room necessary to build the overpass structure that will carry Route 73 over Route 70, according to Greeley.… Continue reading story at Marlton Telegram.

Another Rt. 73 Project To Begin

MAPLE SHADE/MOORESTOWN NJ – Motorists traveling on Route 73 — who already face a major road project at the Marlton Circle — are about to see another potential choke point.

An $18 million project, expected to start tonight, will target a 1.25-mile segment of the busy highway in Maple Shade and Moorestown, state officials say.

Workers will upgrade the road from the Route 41 overpass to the Conrail overpass between Morris and Linwood avenues, according to the state Department of Transportation.

I-295 Construction Updates

Reconstruction to shut some ramps on I-295

Several access ramps on Interstate 295 are to close this week as part of a highway reconstruction project.

One shutdown — for a ramp connecting Old Broadway Avenue to northbound I-295 in Deptford — is expected to last about six weeks for reconstruction, state officials said.

The other closings — in Cherry Hill, Lawnside and Barrington — will occur during night-time hours and should continue for a day or two, according to the state Department of Transportation.

All of the shutdowns are to begin Monday night. Night-time closures will allow resurfacing of these ramps in Camden County:

Cherry Hill: I-295 northbound to the Woodcrest PATCO station, or Exit 31.

Lawnside: Warwick Road to northbound I-295.

I-295 Pavement Rehabilitation Construction Overview

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is currently improving an eight-mile stretch of I-295 in Gloucester and Camden counties, New Jersey. The construction area extends from Route 45 (Exit 24) in Gloucester County to Haddonfield-Berlin Road (Exit 32) in Camden County. Construction began in June 2009, and is expected to last 36 months, with an estimated completion date of July 2012. Funding for this project has been made available under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).

The focus of this project will be on pavement rehabilitation/reconstruction. This will be done through pavement surface milling and overlay, or by complete removal and reconstruction of the entire pavement structure. Included is the replacement of five bridge decks, northbound and southbound, in the vicinity of the Route 30 interchange, substandard geometric features will be improved, such as increasing the length of acceleration and deceleration lanes, cross slopes, and the width of the existing shoulders where possible. Other safety measures will include the installation of guide rails, drainage, closed circuit cameras and speed detectors along the corridor to allow monitoring of traffic flow and congestion….Continue reading story at NJDOT.
